The Year of Talking for Learning

Friday 14th November 2008                                               Ref: 10

Message from the head: We were visited by our School Improvement Officer this week, he was impressed with the achievement of our children and how much we value and respect one another. He also praised our understanding of the challenges we face at the moment and the exciting things we have in place to meet them. I would like to thank all our wonderful staff, governors and volunteers for the excellent work they are doing in supporting and understanding every one of our lovely children.

Parents’ Evenings

Thanks to all of you who came this week. It is tremendously important that we have the opportunity to share our thoughts on how the children are doing. Please do come and see us if you were unable to this week!

Home Time

Please could you support us by making sure there is an adult to adult personal hand over of children at home time. The parking situation is not easy but a safe and calm hand over helps our team to sleep at night!!

Bertie Badger

WELL DONE to Class 6 who had the best attendance this week out of the whole school and to Class 7 who had the most improved attendance. Every day missed is a brick missing in the children’s learning wall.

Children in Need

We had such fun in our spots today and were delighted to welcome Grandpa Pudsey. We hope you enjoy the rest of Children in Need this evening and thanks to all who made donations and joined in with sensational spotty outfits.

Parents’ Group

The group is open to all of you. It runs on Wednesdays from 9 to 10am in the Junior School . It can provide a great way of meeting other parents and carers and sharing ideas for supporting children at home and in school.

Education Welfare

We were visited by our Senior Officer this week.  We truly appreciate the openness and courage it can take for families to share difficult times with us and it helps so much as we then can understand any worries or troubles the children may have and do our very best to support.

Ssshh Christmas Ssshh

Grown ups only are invited to ‘secretly’ come and decorate the hall at 6pm on November 27th ready for the Fair on the 29th.

Class 5 Assembly

Parents and Carers from Class 5 are invited to come and watch their performance on 19th November at 10am.

Christmas Fayre

Donations and offers of help are now very, very welcome. Please do see the office if you can help us in any way.

Reading Top Tip of the week: Try working out really tricky words in advance. Perhaps you could flag the word up and then use a pen, paper and some scissors to write it down, cut it up and work it out!

Have a lovely weekend and best wishes,                                               Elspeth Crowley, Acting Headteacher
